Rick and Melanie Allen - founders, co-owners, and funeral directors at Allen Family Funeral Options - moved their family to Plano from Arlington in 1994. Originally, they chose Plano for the reputation of its public schools. After living in Plano for a brief time, they were pleased to realize that Plano not only met their expectations regarding quality education, but it also fostered a warm, family-friendly environment. It was this immediate feeling of "community" that caused the Allens to instantly call Plano home.

In January 2007, the doors of Allen Family Funeral Options opened, and Rick and Melanie's mutual dream to start a privately-owned and family-operated, full-service funeral home came true.
