Stanley Wayne Dearing, 80, of Roanoke Texas, passed away on April 29, 2024.
Wayne was born to Glen Douglas Dearing and Maxine Nabors Dearing on August 18,1943, in Glendale, Arizona. After graduating from Palo Duro High in 1961, he went on to study finance at West Texas State University earning both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA by 1977, an early highlight in a long and successful career in finance and logistics.
Wayne met Beverly Gail Tarrant while they both worked at Pantex, in Amarillo, Texas. Their marriage in the spring of 1972 brought with it two infant sons Scott and Cory, whom Wayne would adopt in 2001. Wayne and his family moved from Amarillo to Hurst, Texas in 1978 for a position at General Dynamics and later Verizon, where Wayne worked until his retirement. In 2004, Wayne and Beverly relocated to central Oklahoma to care for Beverly’s ailing parents. In 2008 they returned to the Dallas/Fort-Worth area and settled near their children and grandchildren.
Wayne worshipped with his wife and family at First United Methodist Church of Hurst from the late 1970’s through the early 2000’s. Wayne and Beverly continued their worship at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano after returning from Oklahoma. Wayne was a dedicated husband and father, prioritizing others before himself. A voracious reader with an outstanding memory, Wayne consumed any newspaper or book within reach. Although not loquacious, he always had concise and wise advice at the ready. He enjoyed golfing with friends, watching Dallas Cowboys & Texas Rangers games, camping with families from his and Beverly's church group, updating and maintaining his home, and playing card and board games during family get-togethers. Wayne will be missed as his memories live on through family and friends.
Wayne is survived by wife Beverly Dearing, sons Scott (Diana) Dearing, Cory (Deborah) Dearing, and Michael (Janis) Kerns, daughter Diana (Jamie) Davis, grandchildren Matthew, Cayden, Mitchell, Gavin, Sydney, Katherine, Rory, Jack, Riley and Cooper, brothers Doug Dearing and David (Vicky) Dearing, sister Pat (Tommy) Whitacre, and Patsy (Larry) Kerns mother of Michael Kerns and Diana Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Glen Dearing, mother Maxine Dearing, and sister-in-law Erma (Doug) Dearing.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024, at St. Andrew Methodist Church in the St. Andrew's Hasley Chapel, 5801 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, Texas. A reception will follow. Wayne's final resting place will be at the Columbarium adjacent to Hasley Chapel.
