Sheri R O'Dell

Sheri (Richards) O’Dell was born June 12, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Elmer and Barbara (Blanchard) Richards. Sheri met her savior, Jesus Christ on June 18, 2019.

She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, Texas, Tennessee, and South Dakota and graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in Sioux Falls; receiving many scholastic and athletic awards through the years.

Sheri graduated from Notre Dame University School of Business in 1986; she earned her C.P.A. and had a respected career in her field.
In 1992 she married Chris O’Dell. They have two sons, Ryan and Connor, who were the light of her life.

Sheri loved watching her sons play hockey, attended many of her nephew, Jackson’s baseball and basketball games. She enjoyed watching Notre Dame and University of Oklahoma football. She loved to travel with family and friends, and was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was generous in all ways, especially with her time, making room in her busy life for family celebrations. In true Sheri form, her generosity continues as she made the loving gesture of donating her body to medicine in the hope of helping others. She was a very thoughtful and strong woman and knew how to laugh. Her determination helped her through twelve years of many difficult treatments and surgeries.

Sheri had a strong Christian faith and was an active member of Chase Oaks Church where she participated Life Group and Moms ministry. She loved spending time with her dear friends; an amazing tribe of Christian ladies, lovingly called #fiveoverfifty.

We can only imagine the peace and gratitude at being welcomed into the arms of our Savior and freedom from pain with pure joy at being home at last.

Sheri is survived by her husband Chris O’Dell; sons Ryan and Connor O’Dell; father Elmer Richards; mother Barbara Richards; brother Scott Richards and his wife Mary, sister Jennifer Flaherty; father and mother in law Arlos and Barbara O’Dell; brother in law Gary O’Dell; sister in law Suzy Herweck and her husband Ronie; nephews and niece Samuel and Jeremy Richards, Jackson Flaherty, Cory Herweck and Samantha (Sam) Huffstickler and her husband Tyler. She is also survived by many loving friends.

There will be a Celebration of Sheri’s life Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Chase Oaks Church, 201 Legacy Dr., Plano, Texas 75023.
Sheri’s family would like to thank the medical staff of Texas Oncology for the loving treatment she received while fighting her battle against cancer.

A special thanks also to the many family members and friends who traveled long distances to be present for Sheri’s Life Celebration.
