Pauline (Lacko) Wolak was born March 3, 1922, in Whiting, Indiana along with her identical twin sister, Agnes. She passed on September 22, 2022 in Frisco Texas at the age of 100.
Pauline grew up in the Catholic Church and went to Catholic grade school. She has always valued her faith.
Pauline worked various administrative jobs after finishing high school. Always liking to dance, she met her future husband, Leonard, at a local ball room. Leonard Wolak married Pauline on February 3, 1951.
Pauline and Leonard lived in Hammond, Indiana after they were married. They had two children, Dan and Jane-Ellen. Leonard, being a carpenter, built their home in Hammond as well as future homes in Munster and Schererville Indiana.
Before coming to Texas she lived in Munster, Indiana and was a member of St. Maria Goretti in Dyer, Indiana. In 2020 Pauline moved to North Texas (Plano) from Northwest Indiana to be close to her son and his wife, grandson (Todd) and his wife (Wendy) and now two great grandchildren. Her daughter lives in Naples, Florida. Her other grandson (Eric) and his wife (Kristin) and Pauline’s third great grandchild live just north of Houston.
Pauline has always had a strong spirit and has enjoyed being around people. She had been active in the past in line-dancing and was an accomplished Wii bowler, and always enjoyed bingo!! Pauline had a great sense of humor and could always entertain with her quick wit and a funny joke. Pauline moved to the Landing at Watermere in Frisco, Texas in January. She enjoyed all the residents and the staff for their southern hospitality and warmth on welcoming her.
She loved spending time with her family and was the perfect role model for her children and grandchildren, and instilled her confidence and love-of-life into each of them. She was a woman who has left a mark on all of us who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Pauline is survived by her children Jane-Ellen Wolak, Daniel Wolak and his wife Melissa Wolak; grandsons and their wives Todd and Wendy Wolak, Eric and Kristin Wolak; three great grandchildren, Vivienne Pauline Wolak, Evan Todd Wolak, and Kennedy Jane Wolak; sister Lillian (Lacko) Zajac who is living in Schererville Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard who passed in 2003 and her parents Andrew Lacko and Anna (Palko) Lacko, who immigrated from Czechoslovakia. Also, her brothers Andrew and Anthony Lacko, and sisters Sophia (Lacko) Zernik, Anna (Lacko) Latta, Maria (Lacko) Toma, and twin sister Agnes Lacko.
She has many nieces and nephews who loved her.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 3990 W University Dr., Prosper, Texas with Rev. Stephen Hauck officiating.
Pauline will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Leonard October 15, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Schererville, Indiana.
