Lydia passed away on February 21, 2019 at a local hospital in Plano. The Rosary will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 10:30 am, followed by the Funeral Mass and Interment at 11:00 am.
Born in El Paso, Texas, Lydia moved several times with her Army family including time spent in Okinawa. The family moved to Waco, Texas in 1971 and Lydia graduated from Waco High School in 1976. She received an Associate Degree for Legal Secretary from McLennan Community College. Lydia was an Administrative Assistant at MCC for the Financial Counseling Office and for the Nursing Department.
She married in 1984 and moved to Plano in 1996 where she was an Administrative Assistant for Developmental Education at Collin Community College. She retired and then volunteered her time at Children's Medical Center of Plano. She also took great joy in assisting in the religious education classes at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Youth Ministries. A Seton Parishioner since she moved to Plano, she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and the Bereavement Committee.
Lydia loved to read and her favorite author was John Grisham. She also loved crafting, watching "Law and Order" and playing with her three dogs.
Lydia is preceded in death by her daughter Joanna Claire Lugo, who died at birth, mother Carolina Lopez and father Alex Lopez. She is survived by her husband Charlie Lugo, III, brothers Steve and Andrew Lopez, sisters Tina Lopez and Olga McLaughlin, nephews Christopher Lugo and Eric Lopez, nieces Catherine Lugo, Jenna McLaughlin and Sheri Lopez, great-nephew and niece Michael and Mylee Pickens and K-9's Jack, Molly and Chase.
Gifts to the American Diabetes Association, donations.diabetes.org will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
