Judith Florence Rommel

November 3, 1949 — March 30, 2020

Judith (Judy) Florence Rommel was born November 3, 1949 in Valley Stream, New York to parents George and Florence (Van Wart) Rommel. She peacefully passed away March 30, 2020 in Frisco, Texas.

Judy spent most of her childhood growing up in Jersey City, NJ.  Upon graduation from Henry Snyder High School, she attended Trenton State College, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education in 1972.  Shortly after college, she moved to Garland, TX in order to be closer to family, who had moved there earlier.  She began her career at Proctor & Gamble, where she worked for many years; however, the job she loved most was working at the Bishop’s office as an administrator for the North-Texas/Northern Louisiana Synod of the Lutheran Church (ELCA), where she retired in 2015 after 25 years of service.

Judy cherished the moments spent with family and friends.  She adored her grandnieces and nephews and attended their many activities.  She loved spending time with her family, especially going on boat rides in the summer and visiting by the fire pit in the winter.  She also enjoyed being part of the church hand bell choir.  Her favorite pastimes were traveling and playing games with her friends, especially Dominoes and Mahjong.  She will be greatly missed.

Judy is survived by her nephew Jim Rommel, niece Susan Rommel-Boyd, grandnieces and grandnephews: Pace Rommel, Erica Kerby, Leah Blalock, Pierce Glenn, Hannah Rommel, and Davis Glenn, and one great grand-niece Clara Kerby.   She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Raymond and George.

Judy will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, Frisco, Texas.  A memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate her life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider, making a contribution in Judy’s name to either the NTNL Mission Endowment Fund at https://www.ntnl.org/ministries/mef/ or the Briarwood Retreat Center at http://www.briarwoodretreat.org/ .  You can reach either by calling 940-241-2099.
