Johnny Dee Murph

May 10, 1939 — January 17, 2020

On Friday, January 17, 2020, Johnny Dee Murph, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 80.

Johnny was born on May 10, 1939 in Marshall, Texas to Fred and Ida Mae Murph.  He married Rita Ann Campbell on October 14, 1961, and they raised two children, Brad and Jennifer.  As a newlywed, he served in the Army from 1961 until he was honorably discharged in 1963.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and was a commercial real estate appraiser for 45 years.

He had a deep passion for the real estate appraisal business and loved developing his expertise through his long tenure.  Johnny always said he never wanted to retire, and he just about accomplished it – only retiring a few months ago in November.

What precious little leisure time he had was spent up in the foothills of Arkansas “hunting”.  We’re still not sure how much “hunting” was really going on with Johnny only bringing home one turkey after 30 years.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Rita Murph; son, Brad Murph and his wife, Kat, and their children Cormac and Britta of Austin, TX and daughter, Jennifer Mangan and her husband, Todd, and their children Ethan, Samuel, James, and Sadie of Little Elm, TX.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2112 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023.

Internment, with honors, will follow at 1:30 pm at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
