Johnnie F. Newton, 81, of McKinney, Texas, passed away the morning of August 15, 2022, in his home after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was born July 7, 1941 , in Dallas, Texas, to the late Floyd and Myrtle Newton. Johnnie served in the United States Army after graduating high school.
Johnnie worked for over 35 years for the Dallas Police Department before retiring from the DPD as a sergeant. As he wanted to continue to serve his community, he went to work for Denton County for over 8 years in the constable office, and then he continued working 8 more years as a Constable officer for the Collin County Constable Office. Finally, Johnnie joined the Coast Guard Auxilary at Lake Lewisville where he served in many different capacities most recently as Flotilla Commander. In his spare time, you could find him reading a great thriller, solving a crossword puzzle, watching his grandson play football, or spending time on his boat. As he would say, “I love boating.”
Johnnie is survived by his wife of 29 years, Candy Newton, daughter Julie Newton, stepson Bill Fisher (Amanda), son James Newton, stepdaughter Wendy Craft (Darryll), daughter-in-law Sue Newton, and 9 grandchildren along with 2 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Newton, and his son, Johnnie Newton, Jr.
A celebration of Johnnie’s life will be decided at a later date.
