Kenneth And Katherine Goforth

d. December 25, 2021

Harold Kenneth Goforth passed away at the age of 94. He was born in Blueridge, Texas and passed away at home on December 12, 2021. Katherine Jo (Dunn) Goforth passed away at the age of 89. She was born in McKinney, Texas and passed away at home in the early morning on December 25, 2021.

Kenneth was a wonderful and faithful husband to Katherine for 67 years. In his early years, Kenneth started college at University of Texas in Arlington before being drafted to the US Coast Guard. After returning from the service, he enrolled at Texas Technical College (now known as Texas Tech University) and graduated with a degree in Agriculture. He spent multiple years teaching in Snyder, Texas before meeting Katherine on the courthouse steps in Downtown McKinney. Katherine’s stories from her early years included working in a candy shop and the proofing department at Central National Bank in Downtown McKinney. Their love story began and after six short months they married, and Katherine left McKinney to join Kenneth in Snyder. Kenneth and Katherine had one daughter, Kathy Kay, and they settled in Plano, Texas where they lived for 57 years. Kenneth worked, and ultimately retired from, Ford Tractor Company after 38 years of dedicated service.

One of their most favorite titles were “Grandaddy and Granny.”  They both spent countless hours perfecting them! Grandaddy was most known for his detailed stories, contagious smile, bear hugs, endless projects, and love for all things Texas Tech. Granny was always the ‘spoiler’ who loved to shop, decorate, go out to eat, put together puzzles, play games, and watch football. They were members of 18 th and P/Pitman Creek Church of Christ where they were very involved in Sunday School, Sunshiners, and the Birthday Bunch.

Kenneth and Katherine served the Lord, loved people and made a lasting impact beyond their comprehension on everyone they met. We are all better for knowing and loving them. Kenneth and Katherine are celebrating a wonderful life well lived in heavenly peace. They are survived by their daughter, Kathy Jones of Fairview, Texas, grandchildren, Jason (Alison) of Wylie, Texas, Jay (Stephanie) of McKinney, Texas, Jenni (Andy) of Fort Worth, Texas and six great grandchildren.

There will be an Afternoon of Remembrance, to visit and remember them well on Sunday, January 16,2022 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options.

If desired, the family welcomes donations in lieu of flowers to Scottish Rite for Children, https://scottishriteforchildren.org
