Edward (Ed) Chacey Yeaton

January 3, 1954 — December 5, 2017

Edward (Ed) Yeaton was born January 3, 1954 in Wisconsin to parents Edward Cline and Lithaferrin Seralda (Volbrecht) Yeaton. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 5, 2017 in Arlington, Texas.

Family and church played a big part throughout Ed’s life. During his younger years, he was surrounded by a large extended family which included his beloved grandparents and his favorite Uncle Fred. Holidays were spent in his father’s hometown of Oak Park, Illinois, and his grandparents’ home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With a cottage in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, the kids spent several weeks during the summers fishing and water skiing on the Rock River in Janesville with his grandfather. Ed inherited his love of music from his father and enjoyed playing the drums in his youth.

Ed was very accomplished in sports and his entire family supported his athletic endeavors. His mother, Lith, petitioned the city to ensure that the neighborhood children had a place to play baseball. She supplied the equipment and encouraged the kids to play. Because of her dedication, Ed went on to play on a state championship level summer baseball team. Ed was gifted at tennis and made it to the high school state championships several times. Basketball was ultimately the sport that Ed pursued at the D-1 level basketball program at Davidson College in North Carolina where he received a full ride scholarship.

Ed was as gifted in academics as he was in sports. He attended Craig Senior High School graduating in the top 10 out of 500 students. He went on to attend Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina majoring in history and minoring in education. He graduated from Davidson in 1976. He then graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he earned his Master’s in Business Administration and became a CPA.

Upon graduation, Ed worked for Arthur Anderson as a senior auditor. After several years, he moved back to Wisconsin and began his career with Kimberly-Clark Corporation. He held many positions in the company and ultimately became the International Manager of Finance. He contributed greatly to Kimberly-Clark creating their first in-house bank in France and their in-house intercompany netting system. He travelled the world with Kimberly-Clark in his various roles. After leaving Kimberly-Clark, Ed was the CFO for Motivating Graphics, LLC, an international printing and packaging company based in Fort Worth, and most recently, worked for the Small Business Administration.

In 1987, Kimberly Clark moved Ed from Wisconsin to their world headquarters in Las Colinas. That is where he met Sara Dumas. Upon noticing Sara at the Coke machine, he turned to his friend and asked, “Who’s the new girl?” The rest as they say is history. After dating for a short time, they quickly became engaged and were married on November 30, 1996. Ed was and will always be the love of Sara’s life. They faced many trials together during their marriage, but God blessed them beyond measure.

Sara and Ed shared a love of children and were like parents to their many nieces and nephews. After six years and with a desire to start their family, they turned to Edna Gladney. After two trips to Russia, their dreams for a family came true in 2002 with the adoption of their identical twins, Christian and Chacey. His family was everything to Ed. He loved nothing more than being with Sara and his sons. Ed was a dedicated, caring father to his sons mentoring them, loving them and supporting them in their various sports and scouts. He loved watching his sons play Ultimate Frisbee, helping them with their homework, and had the pleasure of seeing them achieve Eagle Scout. Ed had a strong faith in Christ, which he instilled in his family. They have attended Crossroads Bible Church for 21 years. He is affectionately known by his family as a gentle giant, and he
was a giant in his caring love for others.

Ed is survived by his wife Sara, sons Christian Alexander and Chacey Alexei Yeaton, sister Linda Yeaton Day and her husband Jerry, father and mother in law French and Julie Dumas and many sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will celebrate Ed’s life in a private service and he will be laid to rest at New Hope Cemetery in Valley View, Texas. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. If desired, you may make contributions to https://www.gofundme.com/c-c-yeaton-educational-fund
