Donald Howard Mccrary

Donald Howard McCrary, age 85, of Dallas, Texas went to his eternal home with our Lord on Friday, June 26, 2020 after battling multiple health issues.  Don spent his early childhood in Tennessee and then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he graduated from Will Rogers High School.   He graduated from Oklahoma A&M with a degree in Mechanical Engineering then moved to Seminole, Oklahoma to work for Sinclair Oil.  He married Patti Yoss, moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and had their first child, Doug.   After Patti died, Don met Barbara Joyce Remsberg, who fell in love with Doug, and Don too, and they married on May 20, 1961.   They had a daughter, Marcia, three years later.  Don was offered a job with Atlantic Richfield in Dallas where they moved in 1969.  Don and his family enjoyed many years traveling together on vacations and for his job when the opportunity arose.  After taking an early retirement from his company which had been bought by ARCO, Don took up new interests and projects.  He began doing some independent consulting work and also ran his company, McCrary Rental Homes.  Don took up a new sport, cycling, and spent many hours riding with a local bicycle club along the many bike trails, taking his grandkids for bike rides and even rode the Natchez Trace with 2 of his biking buddies.  Don also volunteered with SeniorNet as a computer skills instructor for several years and served as group leader for ElderHostel with his wife, Barbara.  He enjoyed making homemade bread and chocolate chip cookies from scratch.  After his wife, Barbara, died, he became special friends with Flo Shaffer who was a sweet and devoted companion to the end of his life.  He spent many hours with her, enjoying concerts, plays, and movies.

Don is survived by his son, Douglas Howard McCrary and his wife, Rita; his son-in-law, Steve Willis and his wife Kathy of Seneca, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Sam Willis and his wife, Hannah; Jack Willis; Nicole McCrary; Adrienne McCrary; and Jacob McCrary; his brother, Bill Cupps and his wife Cindy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his sister, Carol Blue, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.    He is preceded in death by his father, Howard McCrary; his mother Lucy Cupps; his step-father, Dan Cupps; his first wife Patricia Yoss McCrary; his second wife Barbara Remsberg McCrary; and his daughter, Marcia Carol Willis.  He was a doting grandfather, loving father and husband and a good friend to many.   He will be greatly missed.
