Daniel Wayne Boor was born April 28, 1967 in Tripoli, Libya to parents John and Virginia (Harris) Boor. He went to be with his Lord and Savior November 25, 2019.
His father worked for Mobil Oil and the family lived in Venezuela until Daniel was about 7 years old. The family then moved to Arlington, Texas where he attended Jr. High School. They then relocated again, and Daniel graduated high school in Evergreen, Colorado.
He attended the University of Oklahoma and Arizona State University and was a member of ROTC at both schools. He enlisted in the Marine Corp Reserves in 1989 and met many great friends during his enlistment. Daniel attained the rank of E7 Battery Gunnery Sergeant and deployed to Kuwait for 6 months during Operation Desert Storm in 1990.
Daniel worked in IT in the telecom industry and met Dayna at work in 1998 and they married in 1999. In 2015 Daniel bought a ServPro franchise and continued to work until his death. Although Daniel worked many hours, he always made time for his family, always had a project going and loved doing “man stuff” with his boys. He enjoyed camping, shooting, hiking and working on cars and engines. Daniel loved taking things apart and building things. His favorite words were “assembly required”. While Daniel loved his family dearly, he had a passionate love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As a friend, he was funny, generous, honest and loyal. He will be missed dearly.
“We are so very thankful to Jesus for His plan of salvation; we know that Daniel is in the presence of our Lord but he would feel awful about the pain we are experiencing due to his loss. It’s hard to believe how our lives can change in an instant, it feels like a bad dream. Just a few days ago, we were driving to San Antonio to visit family for Thanksgiving and Dan had us laughing hysterically all the way through New Braunfels; because it is a German town, we had to talk in German accents. He was so funny, and there was no one who ever made me laugh like he did. In fact, that’s how he won my heart 19 years ago.
Please continue to pray for our entire family as God reveals to us what our “new normal” will be.” – Dayna Boor
Daniel is survived by his wife Dayna Boor, sons Aiden and Logan Boor, mother Kay Boor, brother Stephen Boor and sister Elizabeth Boor, father in law Thomas Young, brother in law Dagan Young and sister in law Gina Young and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by daughter Madison Boor, father John Boor and mother in law Bitti Young.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Daniels life on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Plano Bible Chapel, 1900 Shiloh Road, Plano, Texas 75074, with Pastor Gregg Bing officiating.
Daniel will be laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
