Cheri Nappo

May 18, 1944 — August 28, 2024

Cheryl Irene Nappo was born on May 18th, 1944, in Evansville, Indiana to parents Herman Sr. and Reba (Wilkinson) Froehle along with her siblings Bob, Herman Jr., Doris, and Marian.

After growing up in Evansville and graduating from Rex Mundi High School, Cheri joined the convent in Ferdinand, Indiana while going to college, eventually graduating and serving with her order, the Sisters of Saint Benedict.  The order later moved to Colton, California for their mission at Notre Dame High School where she taught mathematics.

When Cheri found a different calling for her future, she left the convent and shortly after met the love of her life, Alfred James Nappo, helping to raise his four children from his previous late wife.  They were married in California in July of 1978 before moving to Tucson, Arizona in December of that same year.  Two and a half years later, she gave birth to her only son Steven Anthony Nappo on May 19th, 1981, one day after her own birthday.  She served as the head secretary for Tanque Verde Lutheran Church before the family moved to Plano, Texas in 1989.  She then served as the head secretary for DAP, Inc. for over 25 years before retiring in 2014.  She became a widow when her best friend and loving husband Alfred passed away in 2016, but she continued on with the care and support of her family and friends as well as that of her cherished church community until her death on August 28th, 2024.

Cheri loved country music, especially Garth Brooks in her earlier years, was a master crossword puzzler, and constantly had a different book to read in her hand.  As a devout Catholic and woman of deepest faith, she spent most of her time jumping between singing with the choir and volunteering at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, praying with her Bible study group, or celebrating God by helping those in need for numerous charities. But she always had time for her Bunco group or long chats with her wonderful neighbors.

Cheri is survived by her son Steven Nappo and his wife Ayaka and son Ren; stepdaughter Meri Jo Hunter and her husband Mark and daughter Meaghan; stepdaughter Theresa Anderson and her children Brandon, Shelby, and Austin; stepdaughter Julia Soto and her husband Steve and children Tiana and Jocelyn; stepson Alfred Nappo Jr. and his wife Stacy and children Max and Jake; and great grandchildren Jadyn, Jack, Christopher, Dakota, Zaiden, and Zayla.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on September 28, 2024, at 11:00 am with a rosary before starting at 10:30 am.  Anyone whose life was touched by this beautiful and incredible woman is invited to attend and celebrate her story and legacy together.  A reception will be held after the service.  If you are unable to physically attend but would like to view the service visit: https://youtube.com/live/M_wInq9pEyE?feature=share

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Humane Society of the United States (https://www.humanesociety.org) as Cheri was an avid animal lover and continuously gave to them herself.
