Charlie Dean was a most dearly loved and cherished husband, father, friend and business associate. To know him was to love him and want to be with him.
Charlie was born March 11, 1943, in Dumas, Texas to Clarence (Dutch) Vernon and Mary Myrtle (Tidwell) Dean. He passed away March 21, 2023.
In high school he was active I football and track. He ran as anchor on his track relay team and in his senior the team went to state finals and won first place, for record time title they held for several years. He graduated in 1961 and attended Kansas University and West Texas State University graduating with a degree in business marketing.
In 1965 Charlie met Carol Clement in Amarillo and always claimed, “it was love at first sight.” They were married March 26, 1966, and enjoyed a cherished marriage for 57 years. After serving in the Army, Charlie and Carol moved to Dallas, where they were blessed with two sons: Charlton “Brett” and Nicholas “Brandon”.
Charlie co-owned a wholesale decorative builders hardware supply company and when his partner retired, Charlie took over and opened two more locations along with a fireplace supply company. He eventually established a builder’s supply warehouse facility. His sons assisted in the operations of this location until he retired. However, after retiring Charlie felt the need to be active again and became associated with Elliott’s Hardware until his health required that he truly retire.
Charlie is survived by loving wife and sons; along with his nephew Race Copeland and his son Austin; his niece Sonya Womack and her husband Eddie, their daughter Brittany Payne and her husband Jason; their children Jayleigh and Kaden; his nephew Barry Copeland and his wife Tamara; their son Brennan; Barry’s son Cameron; brother in law Robert Clement and Nela and family; brother in law Donald Clement and his family; sister in law Kathy Black and her family; sister in law Janet Davis and her husband Jack and families; sister in law Pam Gibson and family; sister in law Monica Scott and family; sister in law Geri Toniolli and her husband Jimmy and family. He was preceded in death by his parents Dutch and Myrtle Dean; sister and brother-in-law Glenda and Orville Copeland.
Charlie will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, Texas.
