Barbara E. Morant

March 5, 1935 — June 17, 2022

Barbara Elizabeth Morant was born March 5, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York to parents Carlson Leslie and Geraldine Helen Banks.  The Lord beckoned Barbara Morant to enter the Pearly Gates on June 17, 2022.

After graduating from Our Lady of Victory High School, she went on to work at the New York Telephone company before marrying William Morant, her husband of 40 years, travelling the world and raising their family together.

Throughout her life, Barbara was a gifted and talented artist, accomplished pianist and voracious reader. In her early years, she performed in many music competitions, which included performing at New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall at the age of fifteen. Later in life, Barbara became an excellent painter and some of her intricately adorned artwork was displayed locally in Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  But Barbara’s first and longest lasting love was always her Faith. A devout Catholic her entire life, Barbara was a true disciple of the Word – spreading kindness and love wherever she went, volunteering at several churches (including Prince of Peace Catholic Church here in Plano for many years) and supporting numerous Catholic charities across the world. Barbara was also a generous supporter of Veterans’ charities and was the spouse of a disabled US veteran.

Those who knew Barbara well would attest that she lit up any room she entered with her witty and infectious sense of humor. She loved classical music, history - especially the history of the English monarchy and ancient Rome - and art, filling her quiet time painting, drawing, and crafting several art pieces that reflected her devotion and passion to her faith and world-travels. She was a joyful presence, elegant and kind, never judgmental and always giving, full of warmth and love for her family, friends and everyone she met.

Barbara’s joy for travel continued through-out her life, she was blessed to live in France, Germany, Hawaii, Mexico, New York, Texas and elsewhere during her fruitful 87 years. She also spent several months annually in London, enjoying the history and culture of her second home, and travelling throughout the United States spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her six children, Kevin, Annette and her husband Rick, Linda and her husband Joshua, Kathy, Karen, Leslie and his wife Natalie: twelve grandchildren; Ian, Brent, Lucas, Brittany, Danielle, Alexandra, Emily, William, Pier, Tisha, Mimi and Barney; as well as three great grandchildren; Elliot, Rooney and Niall. Preceding Barbara in Heaven are her husband, her parents Geraldine and Carlson Leslie Banks and her beloved brother Carl Banks.

A “Celebration of Life & Memorial Service” for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., with her visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., both held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church’s Faith Formation Chapel located at 3100 Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023.  Flowers can be sent to that address.

Thereafter or in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities, World Central Kitchen Inc, The Wounded Warrior Fund or another suitable charity in her name.

Barbara will be laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery with her parents in Farmingdale, New York on July 2, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. under the direction of Frank R Bell Funeral Home.
