Wendell Rol Holifield

Wendell Rol Holifield, age 64, went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, great uncle (Papa 2) and friend whose kindness, humor, and dedication to family touched everyone who knew him.

He was born to Rol Lee Holifield and Blenna Lee (Fox) Holifield on April 6, 1962, at Highland General Hospital in Pampa, Texas. Wendell’s family moved to Liberal, Kansas in 1967 where he spent his childhood. Fond memories he shared included his mother’s loving hospitality and meals for the family as well as his dad’s dedication to family and the church. He and his twin brother, Wayland, enjoyed playing matchbox cars, riding bicycles, motorbikes, team sports, and fishing trips with the family. Wendell and Wayland were bat boys for the Liberal Bee Jays semi pro team and later deejays for the Pampa radio station KGRO.

Wendell earned his bachelor’s degree at West Texas A&M University and then moved to Richardson, Texas in 1987. He joined Bridge Oil as an accountant and transferred to Wynn-Crosby Energy, Inc. where Kelly also worked in the engineering department. In October of 1997, he was invited by his coworker on a blind double date with Kelly to a Dallas Stars hockey game. Their love for each other was instant and he proposed on December 5th. They were married on January 3, 1998, in Plano, Texas. They continued to raise Mindy and Parker and together welcomed two boys, Zachary and Connor. He joined Northrop Grumman in 2007 where he worked in various financial facets of the company for 18 years landing as a manager of business management. While working, he earned his master’s degree at the University of Texas at Dallas and obtained his Certified Public Accountant license.

In 2025, he made the choice to join Chase Oaks Church part time as a payroll manager. Faith was an important part of his life. He had a deep connection with the Lord and was an avid reader of many books and sources supporting his faith. He enjoyed working for the staff at Chase Oaks Church and valued the friendships created during his tenure.

Wendell deeply loved his family and treasured the time spent together. He spent countless hours with all four of his children supporting them in education and sports (Tae Kwan Do, as a little league coach for baseball, drill team, piano, drums, hockey, soccer, guitar, and keyboard). He was known for always being willing to give advice. Some of his favorite family times were spent at the lake house in Oklahoma fishing, boating, and observing wildlife. He was a true foodie and found joy in cooking meals for those he loved. His fond memories of riding motorcycles with his brother led him to buy his beloved Harley Davidson, Sportster in 2024 affectionately known as “HOSS”, that he enjoyed riding to work and on weekends. His other hobbies included listening to music, watching westerns, golfing, bird watching, and serving faithfully in his church community. He adored his dog Baxter and cat Oliver Theodore.

He will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, servants’ heart, humility, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Wendell is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kelly Holifield; children Parker Holifield, Zachary Holifield, Connor Holifield, Mindy Williams; twin brother, Wayland Holifield and sister-in-law Linnie; sister Linda Sehorn and brother-in-law Darrell; sister Arlene Brown and brother-in-law, Larry; father-in-law Alan Campbell; nephews Tyler Holifield and Ryan Holifield; niece Shannon Stephens; nephews Jeff Brown and Eric Brown; as well as many cousins, great nephews, great nieces, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Rol; mother Blenna; niece Stacey Sehorn; mother-in-law Deborah Campbell; and sister-in-law Karmen Potter.
