Viola Fay Carlson

June 23, 1944 — February 23, 2021

Viola Fay Jones Carlson, 76, of Plano, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Medical City of Plano surrounded by her children.

Fay was born June 23, 1944, in Maeser, Utah to Edgar Clark Jones and Edna McConkie. She attended Uintah high school and graduated in the class of 1962.

After graduation, Mom attended Brigham Young University. She majored in Music. She specialized in piano and organ.

After college, Mom moved with her then husband Darrell Hunt to Bancroft, Idaho. She then moved with her family to Vernal, Utah. In 1974, She moved with her family to Idaho Falls, where she was involved in the local PTA and Idaho politics. In 1985 she moved to Utah. Her later years were spent teaching piano to her grandchildren and students in the Plano, Texas area.

Mom loved playing the piano, family history, and going to her grandchildren’s events. She played the piano, organ and violin, and she loved to sing. She loved general conference and listening to the apostles talks.

Fay will always be remembered for her love of family, playing the piano, and her optimism of restored health.

She is survived by her daughter, Fay (Scott) Michaelis; son, Darrell (Jayna) Hunt, sister, Arla (Russell) Hunt and brothers, Brenton (Carol) Jones, Edgar (Linda) Jones and Ted (Teresa) Jones. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren; Sarah (Nathan) Woolley, Luke Michaelis, Brandt Michaelis, Hunter Michaelis, John (Madison) Hunt, Andrew (Quincie) Hunt, Joshua Hunt, Jacob Hunt and Abygail Hunt  and 1 great granddaughter, Lena Hunt.

She is preceded in death by her parents,  Edgar Clark Jones Jr. and Edna McConkie; sister, Sally Jones and brother, Paul Jones

Services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2700 Roundrock Trail, Plano, Texas 75075.
