Victoria “GiGi” Ingrassia’s faith became sight when she peacefully entered the radiant presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Her long-awaited and glorious promotion came on Saturday evening, January 10th, at 8:50 p.m. After several courageous years walking through the valley of bone marrow cancer, the Lord tenderly called Vicki home—through the turnstile of death into everlasting life. Jesus’ promise stands firm and true: “Whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.”
Vicki lived her entire life in anticipation of this moment, taking her place prepared by Christ in His eternal kingdom. Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in this unshakable truth—Vicki is not dead; she is more alive now than she has ever been. Vicki came to personal faith in Jesus Christ in her late teens and was unmistakably ‘all in’ from the very beginning.
As a spiritually sensitive child, she often wondered, “What is the way to heaven?” On May 1, 1973, she heard the words of Jesus from John 14:6 - “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” In that moment, God awakened her heart, welcoming her into His family through new birth. Vicki quickly recognized the Lord’s loving claim on her life and joyfully devoted herself to following Him with wholehearted devotion.
Years later, while serving on a mission trip to Barranquilla, Colombia, Vicki heard a Spanish worship song that deeply stirred her spirit—long before she understood its words. “La Niña de Tus Ojos”— “The Little Girl of Your Eyes”—speaks of the tender, personal love of a Father for His beloved daughter. Vicki knew in her heart those words were meant for her.
Vicki flourished in many roles and callings, always marked by her servant’s heart. With gentle strength and quiet leadership, she most often served behind the scenes rather than in the spotlight. Some years ago, our daughters honored her with a Christmas plaque bearing these words: Christian – Nurse – Woman of Faith – Missionary – Intercessor – Survivor – Helper – Friend – Confidante Daughter – Wife – Mother – “GiGi”!
From her bed of illness, Vicki once asked her 12-year-old granddaughter Lyla, “Sweetheart, what traits will you remember about me?” After a thoughtful pause, Lyla replied, “Your humor… your generosity… and your patience.” Nailed it!
Though Vicki served faithfully in many ministries, her deepest passion and calling was intercession. Under the mentoring of Kaye Johns, she grew into a leader of prayer in her own right, guiding countless prayer gatherings—especially in the early mornings on mission trips. Her humble yet powerful calls to prayer shaped and strengthened many lives. Vicki joyfully served Christ on foreign soil in Romania (many times), Colombia, Mexico, Haiti, and Russia.
We will deeply miss her assuring presence and steadfast love. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 50 years, Sam Ingrassia; her daughters Christina, Nicole, and Stephanie; sons-in-law Brian Cvejanovich and Josh Durham; her treasured grandchildren Lyla, Brody, and Cedar; along with countless family members and dear friends.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
‘Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.’
Charm is deceptive,
and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord
is to be praised.”
