Tina Myers

September 11, 1971 — August 7, 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Kristina (Tina) Marie Myers, 50, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022, in Houston, Texas. Tina fought a 7 ½ year battle with Stage IV breast cancer and leukemia. She was born September 11, 1971, in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, where she started her life as an army brat.

Tina was a fabulous mother-baby nurse at Medical City Las Colinas. Both her patients and her coworkers absolutely loved her. She will be dearly missed at that hospital for her sense of humor and her love.

For fun, Tina worked part time at the local Chick-Fil-A.

Tina was gifted with a loving heart and a sense of adventure. As a young adult she lived and worked in Garmisch, Germany where she met her future husband, Michael Myers. After several moves, they settled in the Dallas area (Allen) to be near family.  There she spent many years raising her children. After she was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in 2015, Tina felt called to become a nurse. While undergoing cancer treatment, Tina attended nursing school full time, and worked full time, while raising 5 kids. There was nothing that woman couldn’t do. In May 2020 Tina was pinned as an RN, fulfilling her dream.

To know Tina was to love Tina. She had the most infectious smile and laugh along with a witty sense of humor. She was kind and compassionate with a big heart. She loved big. So, so big. Tina showed concern for everyone around her and never allowed her illness to define her. Tina also had a deep faith. She taught us how to suffer with grace and dignity. She taught us that self-pity had no place in a life well lived. She taught us what loyalty looked like. She was an unapologetic truth teller. She listened without judging and she never repeated what was told to her. Tina was a rare, beautiful gem in this often-unpredictable world. She was blessed to recognize the work of the Holy Spirit.

Tina is preceded in death by her mother, Vicki Wanken.

Tina is survived by her husband, Mike; her 5 children, Adrianna (25), Phillip (20), Nathan (17), Emily (11) and Henry (9); her identical twin sister, Susan Settle (Jeff), sister, Nancy Koehler, brother, Peter Wanken (Tracy); her father, John Wanken; sister-in-law Kelly Deaver (Danny), brother-in-law Jon (Val), numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephew.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options 2112 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023. The rosary will start at 6:00 p.m.  A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 N. Greenville Ave, Allen, Texas 75002.

In lieu of flowers, we have created a fund for Tina’s kids for Christmas, summer camp and hopefully a little trip for them to make memories. Donations can be sent via PayPal to [email protected] .
