Timothy Wayne Dalzell, of Richardson, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Thursday October 25, 2018, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Plano, Texas. The son of Floyd W. and Pearl G. Trontvet, he was born on November 28, 1949 in Warren, Minnesota.
At the young age of 4, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Soon after, he traveled with his family across the country, participating in their evangelical ministry until his early twenties, where he sang, played and ministered to those he met along the way. During this time, Tim cultivated a deep love of old Christian hymns, a love he carried through his adulthood and throughout his life. In his late teens, he took the responsibility of planning his family’s itinerary, greatly expanding his father’s ministry outreach across the United States and Canada. He left for college in 1968 and chose to attend Trinity College (now Trinity International University), where he received his bachelor’s degree in history in 1971. At the start of his senior year, he met his wife, Sue Ann Englram, and they were married June 10, 1972. He enrolled as a Master’s student in Wheaton College during the Fall of 1971 and completed his degree in church history there in May 1978. Tim moved with Sue to Pennsylvania, where he served as a youth pastor in McKeesport and later helped start a church in Beaver Falls. Eventually, he pursued further postgraduate work, attaining his Ph.D. at the University of North Texas in early modern European history (Renaissance/Reformation) in May 1985. His doctoral dissertation, “The Anabaptist Purity of Life Ethic,” documents the powerful impact of certain early Protestant reform movements across 16th century Germany.
On August 25, 1988, Tim and Sue’s twin sons, Matthew Grant and Nathaniel Pierce, were born. They moved from their home in Garland, Texas to Richardson on May 29, 1993. Tim’s part time painting jobs, while he was a student, quickly became full time when his sons were born. His painting business flourished, and after several years, he evolved from painter into general contractor, not only professionally remodeling homes but successfully constructing home offices, additions, and some commercial offices in the greater Dallas area. As his sons grew older, he included them in his business, aided Sue in homeschooling them, and took on the responsibility of training them spiritually.
Tim loved listening to music, especially the classics, but his greatest passion by far was studying God’s Word. He spent countless evenings pouring over the Bible, various commentaries, and compiling doctrinal essays on numerous subjects. He gained the greatest joy by sharing his findings with his family and friends, and in teaching his sons to study and love the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Sue; his two sons Matthew and Nathaniel; his father Floyd Dalzell; and his four siblings, Joyce Scheumann, Esther Rood, Pamela Forney and Ross Dalzell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at Allen Family Funeral Options, in Plano.
