Tammy Ann Hein

May 2, 1961 — January 30, 2026

Murphy, Texas

Tammy Ann Hein of Murphy, Texas passed away on January 30th, 2026 after a two-year struggle against an aggressive breast cancer. Despite her condition, Tammy’s determination never wavered, and the love and care she held for her vast circle of friends and family never diminished.

Tammy was born to Raymond Richard Hein and Audrey “Mickey” Hein on May 2, 1961 in Crown Point, Indiana, and would be raised there alongside her two brothers, Tim and Ted Hein, until she graduated high school. Having worked to provide for herself from the moment she could be hired for a job (and perhaps a few years before even that), Tammy would pay her own way into Purdue University, but would choose to leave Purdue to instead pursue her career as a telecommunications engineer. In her career she would be employed by companies like DSC and MCI, where she would be lauded for her thoroughness and precision; but she would find another family at Masergy Communications in 2007, where she would work for the entirety of her last 19 years. This work was also what brought her to Texas in 1987, which she would call home for the rest of her life.

Though Tammy never married, she would meet Carlos Bosch in 1995, father of her only child Raymond Karl Hein, born on May 14th, 1997. Though her relationship with Carlos did not last, Tammy was determined to raise her child on her own, and she made sure that Raymond was loved, educated, and provided for in every way that she was able. In 2004, Tammy would begin a new relationship with Joel Coleman, who remained her partner and companion for nearly 22 years until her passing.

Though not related to her by blood, Fran Hill was and still is a sister to Tammy. They would meet in 1991, form an instant bond, and from then on would be nothing less than family. Tammy was instrumental in helping Fran care for her daughter, Kenly, when she was in need; and “Aunt Fran” was the first person to hold Tammy’s son Raymond after his birth.

Tammy enjoyed nothing more than caring for and loving others, and would not rest if she knew that someone was in need. She loved to cook and celebrate the holidays, and would constantly go out of her way to provide food, help, cheer, or anything else that those around her needed to get back on their feet, even if it sometimes came at Tammy’s own expense. Whether it was Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween, or birthdays, Tammy made sure that everyone around her knew that they were always welcome at her home and that they never needed to be alone if they were willing to come to her door.

Tammy was also an avid gardener, a voracious reader, and a lover of animals, so much so that neighbors with pets in need of care or rescue would come to her and her son before anyone else. Animals in need would often approach Tammy on their own, despite refusing to allow anyone else to touch them, and she could never refuse any living thing that needed her help so long as she could provide it. Though this often left her home with an overabundance of pets, she would not have it any other way, because those pets are and were part of her family as well, and she could never let them go unless she was certain that they were being cared for just like she would.

Tammy was the most caring and understanding mother a son could ask for, a kind and generous soul to anyone and everyone who would accept her care, and a source of boundless love that rarely asked for anything more than that her love be received. Though times were sometimes hard, her faith in the Lord and in her many, many loved ones would carry her through.

She will be dearly missed by her many close friends, and by her family that she welcomed so many into.

Tammy is survived by her son Raymond Karl Hein; father Raymond Richard Hein; brothers Tim and Ted Hein; partner of 21 years Joel Coleman, and her closest friend and sister Fran Hill. Tammy is preceded in death by her mother Audrey “Mickey” Hein and by Carlos Bosch, father of her son.
