Susan "Sue" Burris

March 20, 1956 — March 20, 2025

Susan Marie (Lewis) Burris was born March 20, 1956, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to parents Frederick Alexander and Nora (Shortridge) Lewis. She went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2025, and join the love of her life Timothy.

Susan grew up in the North Hollywood, California area with her family. In her childhood, she enjoyed playing Monopoly, hide-and-seek, and building floats in a red wagon around Christmastime to go caroling with her sisters. She met her husband, Tim, at the age of 16 while cleaning houses. She spent a lot of time with her friends and maintained close ties with them throughout her life.

She left home at 16 to get married, start a family, and begin Navy life with Tim. They were wed on October 14, 1972. She moved to Pensacola, Florida with Tim and enjoyed spending time at the beach; so much that she bought a timeshare in Destin, Florida. Destin became a yearly trip where she loved hanging out with friends and soaking up the sun.

She had a successful career as a Tupperware salesperson, which she both enjoyed and excelled at. Over the years, Sue owned three dogs that she loved dearly: Coco (the “demon dog”), Missy, and Sadee. Sadee was her last pet, and they developed a strong bond after Tim’s passing. She missed them both deeply, and her health began to decline after Sadee’s death. Sadee will be buried with Sue.

Sue was a devoted Catholic, worked with Habitat for Humanity, and had many close ties and friends at her church. She always enjoyed lunch with her friends and was passionate about healthcare reform after Tim became ill. She had a long career with Plano Physician’s Network (PPN) and retired about 10 years ago.

Her favorite song was “I Got You, Babe” by Sonny and Cher, and she danced to it—or requested it—at every event she could. She loved all her granddaughters and often said, “Tim didn’t leave me enough money to spoil all of the girls.”

She will be missed by all her children, grandchildren, and family, and will be remembered forever as the strong-willed, speak-her-mind person that she was—who loved us well.

Sue is survived by her 2 sons Steve Burris and his wife Lori and Jeff Burris and his wife Liz; granddaughters Isabelle, Juliette, Melanie, Caitlin and Kylie Burris; siblings Robert “Bob” Lewis and his wife Joyce, Barbara Declue, Lynda Frommer and her husband Gary, and Janet Homer.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband Timothy Burris and her parents.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options.

There will be a mass to celebrate Sue’s life at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with The Rev. Bruce Bradley and The Rev. Henry Petter officiating.  If you wish to join the service via webcast, please visit: https://www.youtube.com/live/lQVG1adz58k
