Susan Jan Stevens Scott

September 4, 1954 — March 17, 2026

Plano, Texas

Susan Jan (Stevens) Scott was born September 4, 1954 to John “Jack” Donald and Ada Louise Stevens. An only child, she grew up in DeSoto, Texas where some of her earliest and fondest memories included playing with her friends and deciding to dive headfirst into her [dry] kiddy pool, probably giving herself a mild concussion.

Susan graduated from Carter High School in Oak Cliff where she was on the dance team and enjoyed playing tennis. She was approached to be a Junior Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader at Dallas Cowboys games her Senior year after her picture was featured in the Dallas Times Herald. Susan attended Austin College to receive her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. She was a part of several women’s sports teams, including their first Women’s Softball team, which was recently inducted into the Austin College sports Hall of Fame.

After receiving her Bachelor’s degree, she moved to Dallas to pursue a Masters in Statistics at Southern Methodist University. While there, she began dating an engineering student named Marion Scott. In March 1979, Marion and Susan married at the Highland Park United Methodist Church Chapel in a ceremony officiated by both a Methodist minister and a Catholic Priest. Their first home was in Grand Prairie, Texas and in April 1980 they welcomed their first child, their son, Sean Garrett. At that point, Susan became a full time Stay-at-Home-Mom and often described it as the most rewarding career she could imagine. In August 1983, they welcomed their first daughter, Erin Leigh. The family then moved to Arlington, Texas, where Susan enjoyed participating in a homeschool co-op and being a La Leche League leader. In 1987, the family followed Marion’s job to Albuquerque, New Mexico and in March 1989 they welcomed their third child, their daughter Dana Lauren.

Susan spent her adult life loving and caring for her family and friends. She studied health and wellness extensively, and put her learning to use throughout her adult life, including times each of her daughters was seriously ill. Susan gave her time generously to assist her parents and Marion’s parents in the final years of their lives.

Susan was blessed to see all three of her children marry and then delight in seeing her grandchildren as often as possible.

Susan is survived by her husband of 47 years, Marion; son and daughter-in-law Sean and Robyn Scott, daughter and son-in-law Erin and Garrett Foreman, daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Kevin Hulin, as well as their combined 13 grandchildren. As one of her granddaughters, Audrey, said upon hearing of her passing, “She lived a full life.” She did. She will be dearly missed.

There will be a funeral service to celebrate Susan’s life at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Allen Family Funeral Options.

Susan will be laid to rest at Wilson Chapel Cemetery, McKinney, Texas.
