Summer Michele Kolb

May 23, 1985 — September 25, 2025

Princeton

Summer Michele Kolb was born to Tim and Toni on May 23, 1985, in Garland, Texas at home, as witnessed, with commentary by her 6-year-old sister, Shannon.

Summer was the 4th of 5 siblings and the youngest daughter of 4 girls with a younger brother and was also his first best friend. She was shy, playful and very modest as a little girl. In her teens, she wanted to be a model and even went to modeling camp. Beginning in middle school, she was a member of the Allen Special Olympics team through high school graduation and excelled at all sports. She was kind and loved by many of her coaches, teachers, teammates, friends, and other school staff. Summer loved her nieces and nephews with all her heart. In 2015 Summer had her own daughter, Mia Faith, and married Roderick. Summer was a lover of both her family, and all animals - and has had dogs, cats, bunnies, turtles and even a bearded dragon. She was a lively and fun-loving mother and wife.

Summer was diagnosed with Breast Cancer for the first time in the fall of 2019 and, after treatment, was declared in remission in 2022. In February of 2025 Summer was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer and sought treatment, which failed. After a courageous 8-month battle for more time with her family, Summer sadly passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 40 in Princeton, Texas at home as witnessed, with commentary, by her 46-year-old sister, Shannon. Summer passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family and is now fully healed.

Summer is survived by her daughter Mia Faith, her husband Roderick McGinnis-Columbus; her father, Timothy Kolb; mother, Toni Kleiber and her husband David; her grandmothers Patricia Smith and Bernadette Kolb; her siblings: sister, Stephanie and her husband Jim Smith; sister, Shannon Kolb; sister, Samantha Jones; and brother Stephen Kolb and his wife Amy, her nieces Qyahna, Isabella, and Zoey; and her nephews, Christopher, Max, and Jonathan. She was preceded in death by her niece Katherine “Katybug” Smith, and nephew Christian “Boom Boom” Jones.

A memorial service in Summer’s honor will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the non-profit organizations Manda Strong Foundation at: https://mandastrong.com/ or Mission Regan at: https://missionregan.org/, who were so wonderful to send Summer and Mia to Sea World to make memories and for Summer to fulfill her dream of petting dolphins, as well as providing her with a motorized wheelchair to navigate the park comfortably.

Our family would also like to say a special Thank You to all those that reached out, donated to Summer’s GoFundMe, brought or sent food, and all those who prayed for Summer during this time. We appreciate you being the hands and feet of Jesus in such a difficult time. THANK YOU!
