Steven James Wunderlich

June 7, 1952 — March 29, 2026

Richardson, Texas

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Wunderlich, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 29, 2026, at the age of 73.

Born in Harvey, Illinois, Steve was the cherished son of Donald and Kay Wunderlich. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and his brother, Daniel Wunderlich. Steve leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Belinda Wunderlich; sons Donnie Wunderlich and wife Rita, Adam Wunderlich and wife Carly; brother Robert Wunderlich and wife Joan; and his cherished grandchildren who were the light of his golden years.

A proud graduate of Richardson High School's Class of 1969, Steve also attended the University of North Texas. For over 40 years, Steve was a fixture of the DFW restaurant scene, renowned not just for his ideas and innovations but also for his unwavering commitment to training and mentoring the next generation. His colleagues remember him as a man whose passion was infectious, and whose presence was a beacon of encouragement and warmth. His gift of gab was legendary, and he was always eager to engage in conversations about others' passions while sharing his own.

A devoted husband and father, he was a constant presence at his sons' games, ensuring his support was felt both on and off the field. His dedication extended well into his retirement, where he spent countless joyous hours fishing and golfing, often accompanied by his adoring grandchildren who shared his love for the outdoors. Steve found solace and a second family at his home in Lake Kiowa, Texas, where his laughter and stories will be dearly missed. Yet, it was his family in Dallas who were his anchor, his pride, and his joy—a testament to a life well-lived and filled with love.

Please join us for a casual celebration of life, to share memories and stories that made him so special. The gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Heights Recreation Center, located at 711 W Arapaho Rd, Richardson, Texas 75080.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Steve's honor to Lake Kiowa Kiwanis Club P.O. 32 Gainesville, Texas 76241, an organization that reflects his lifelong dedication to community service and helping others.

He will be remembered as a man who truly lit up every room he entered and who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace and his spirit forever carried forward by those who loved him.
