Steven "Steve" William Hoffmann

February 23, 1962 — December 15, 2020

Steve William Hoffmann passed away on December 15, 2020 at the age of 58 with his wife and daughter by his side. He fought a short but courageous battle against complications from lyme disease.

Steve was born on February 23, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Bill and Dolores Hoffmann. He grew up with older sister Linda and younger brother Bill. They went on many adventures together, which sparked Steve’s love of the outdoors.

He attended University of Missouri St. Louis where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in what is now considered computer science. He put himself through college working multiple odd jobs like making (and eating!) donuts. After graduation, Steve worked his way up through various IT, network, and software engineering jobs, eventually becoming Director of Information Technology at Service Nation where he worked for the past 7+ years. He loved his job (and the fact that he could work from home regularly) and spoke highly of his coworkers - especially since they always kept Pepsi stocked in the fridge for him.

Steve married his high school sweetheart, Cathy, on September 14, 1984 whom he met at the age of 16. They have been married for 36 years and his absence will be profoundly felt. He loved their only child, Shena, more than anything in this world and took every chance he got to tell those around him about her. Steve worked hard his entire life to provide the best for his wife and daughter, but he also took the time to treat his family to many adventures over the years. He diligently planned family vacations, from trekking down off-road trails in Colorado to carrying Shena on his shoulders around Disney World. One of his proudest accomplishments was putting his daughter through college, making sure her future was secured before his own.

From working on cars and boats, to finding the best deals or inventing creative solutions to problems, Steve never sat still. The hobby he was most proud of was his Jeep though, which he and his wife would take off-roading every chance they got. Their retirement plan was to travel the country in their RV, taking their jeep to any trail they could find. He planned to complete as many trails in the Jeep badge of honor challenge as possible, of which he completed 11 before he passed.

Everyone that met Steve had only good things to say about him. He and his patience, kindness, willingness to listen, unique sense of humor, strange eating habits, and odd quirks will sorely be missed.

Steve’s death is preceded by his father, William “Bill” Hoffmann.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy, and daughter, Shena; mother Dolores Hoffmann; sister Linda Kahn and brother-in-law Hilton Kahn; brother Bill Hoffmann and sister-in-law Kathleen Hoffmann; and many other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Please note that properly worn masks and social distancing will be required at the service. Steve was always most comfortable in a sturdy pair of jeans and tennis shoes - feel free to come dressed as you like.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Allen Family Funeral Options with a visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at Noon.
