Steve Powers

Stephen James Powers, age 64, passed away from natural causes on Saturday, July 23, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. Stephen, Steve as many knew him, was born on July 28, 1957, in Dallas, Texas to Joann Tyler Powers and James Norman Powers.

He graduated from WT White High School in 1975 and received a degree in American Studies from Austin College in 1982. Steve began working for Half Price Books in 1982, and he would work there until retirement, making many happy memories and friends. He married Jennifer (Stuckens) Powers in 1995, and they raised two daughters, Kendall and Bailey.

Steve had a passion for music, especially classic rock. He loved dogs and had many over the course of his life. He had an eccentric taste in movies, but never hesitated to take someone’s suggestion for something new to watch. He was always willing to help a friend, and he loved his kids deeply.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, James Norman Powers, and his mother, Joann Tyler Powers. He is survived by his daughters, Kendall and Bailey Powers, his brother David Powers, married to Dana, his nephews Drew Powers and Brent Powers, married to Amanda. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Pepper.

Steve's memorial service will be held on September 3, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Allen Family Funeral Options.

There will be an optional reception at 3:00 pm held at WhirlyBall/LaserWhirld of Plano for those who would like to attend: 3115 W Parker Rd, Plano, Texas 75023.

Steve was a big fan of funny t-shirts, so we ask any attendees to dress in their funniest tee shirt or Half Price Books tee in honor of Steve to both the service and reception.
