Stephen Miller

Stephen Wayne Miller, 58, of Plano, Texas passed away February 26, 2025, into the loving arms of his husband, Michael Fuller.

He leaves behind his family of choice, Jenn and wife Rita, and Leah, along with special friends Violetta, Portia, Colin, Carla and Fern. Steve’s tribe was huge, and he had the ability to make each of us feel special in his presence. As his good friend Carla said, “We all have our unique friendship with Steve.”  He was grateful for the seven wonderful years, not just surviving but thriving, that he got after his diagnosis; thanks to Dr. Bibawi and his oncology team at Methodist Richardson.

Steve was an elementary teacher for nearly 30 years, leaving a legacy where he was beloved by former students and co-workers at Anne Frank Elementary in Dallas ISD. He loved volunteering to feed the homeless with Breakfast at Cathedral of Hope; often after having chemotherapy just days before. That’s who Steve was; he showed up for everyone around him!  Steve was an active member of his church, Cathedral of Hope, participating in food outreach and prison pen pal ministries, as well as lay ministers of worship, and Sources of Hope volunteer work.

Steve loved shopping. Ever the fashionista, he could not seem to pass up the famous Dillard’s New Year Sale.  He enjoyed crafting, gardening, yard art and self-made bird feeders. He built his own wooden patio deck and raised vegetable beds. He fed the birds several times a day; whole peanuts for the blue jays, much to the dismay of his neighbors! Steve loved his dachshunds and never said “No” when the Louisiana Dachshund Rescue came calling.

Steve’s Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Cathedral of Hope, Main Sanctuary, 5910 Cedar Springs Rd., Dallas, Texas. If possible, please wear paisley in honor of Steve.
