January 15, 1984 was an icy Dallas night, but that was soon to change with the birth of Stephanie Roman, who would bring warmth and light to many.
Growing up in the Dallas area, Stephanie graduated from Wylie High School in 2002 and later graduated from the University of North Texas. She had always had a gift for music - learning violin and flute in her early years - but it was her voice that distinguished her. She performed in several musicals, and loved the power of church choirs. In one wedding performance, she was recognized as “a big voice out of such a tiny body.”
Sadly, she was burdened with several autoimmune diseases. Alopecia universalis appeared in her late teens, and in addition she constantly struggled with Crohn’s Disease.
After several difficult years, Stephanie began exploring her spiritual side, and tapped into her innate empathic abilities. She blossomed as a psychic, enjoying her abilities to reach out and help others learn their own true natures - and Stephanie decided to become a life coach as well.
Finally accepting that alopecia was an unwinnable battle, she was able to achieve a years-long dream when she delivered a Ted Talk on the “Bald Barbie Army,” her effort to address the representation of those with unconventional looks. She had finally triumphed over one of her diseases.
Unfortunately, her other physical ailments continued to plague her, and the pandemic struck her as well, culminating in her death on August 8, 2021.
But this was just another transformation for her. She is finally able to see her beloved grandmother again, and is undoubtedly giving us signs that we, too, can change our own lives.
Stephanie’s life will be celebrated on August 14, 2021 at an invitation-only service. Those unable to attend will be able to watch the livestream at:
