Silvyn Emateen Bethany Ponder was born February 23, 1922 in Northfield, Texas to Jesse and Sarah Bethany. She entered Heaven on her 98th birthday, February 23, 2020. Silvyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who had an unwavering faith in God.
Silvyn was a sweet and loving soul who lived a long and mostly happy life, beginning her journey in the farmland and cotton fields of North Texas. Having survived the trying times of the Great Depression, she was a very grateful person who took nothing for granted. She married very young and raised 6 children whom she adored. Her life was lived in Lubbock, various parts of Arkansas, and the Fort Worth / Dallas area. Her careers in life consisted of picking cotton and working farmland in her youth, homemaker, and retail sales. Two of her proudest accomplishments were her faith in God, and having read the Bible from cover to cover 6 times in her lifetime. She loved nature, camping, fishing, and gardening. She was an accomplished seamstress having lovingly made family members quilts and blankets throughout the years. In recent years she was proud and humbled at being named Senior Citizen of the Year in Mount Ida, Arkansas and the Mardi Gras Queen at the Richardson, Texas Senior Citizen Center. She loved her family and took great pride in being able to name all 133 of her five generations of grandchildren, and that she remained close with most of them.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, B J Ponder; children: Cecil Randolph Boling, John Travis Boling and wife Elenita, Sarah Rebekah Carver and husband Roger, Sid Paul Boling and wife Kathy; sister: Otha Lee Carver; and brother: Orval Bethany. She is also survived by five generations of cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren totaling 133. She was preceded in death by husbands: John Cecil Boling and Kenneth Butts; brother: Kenneth Bethany; sister: Juanita Graves; and loving daughters: Martha Jean Boling and Silvyn Lucretia (Chriss) Farr.
Silvyn touched many lives in her 98 years, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will remain forever in our hearts.
