Shirley J. Hodges, age 86 passed away on June 11, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born to John and Kate Autry on December 18, 1930 in Medina, Texas. Shirley graduated from Overton High School as a member of The National Honor Society and attended Kilgore Junior College. During her early adult years, she worked as a dental assistant and enjoyed painting and sketching designs of clothing. Shirley’s artistic ability was later demonstrated in the design and decoration of her homes, pool and fashion. She was a dedicated wife and mother whose unconditional love, guidance, caring and support was cherished in the hearts of her family and friends. Shirley was a beautiful person inside and out, whose greatest love was her family. She enjoyed having fun by dining out, attending various activities, traveling, gardening and enjoying her pool and backyard oasis with family. More importantly, Shirley wanted her family to have fun and be happy, as she always put them before herself in all aspects of life. She is survived by her husband Thomas E. Hodges, sons Phil Hodges and his wife Tammy, Kyle Hodges and his wife Shelby, sister Beth Bennett, Grand children Michael Hodges and his wife Neree, Chris Hodges, Peter Czojor, Deanna Czojor and Great grandchild Presley Hodges. Shirley will be laid to rest on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. A memorial service will follow on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023.
