Sharon Ruth Mcgahagin

June 29, 1953 — July 17, 2019

On Wednesday July 17 th , 2019, Sharon McGahagin was reunited with her father, whom she has missed deeply since his passing two years ago.

Sharon was born in Montgomery, AL where her father was stationed on June 29, 1953 to George and Ruth McGahagin. Their father served a career in the Air Force, so the family, including her sister, Gwen, moved several times while they were young to Goose Bay Labrador, Wichita, Kansas and finally to Orlando, Florida. Sharon attended school in Florida from 5 th grade thru College.

Sharon graduated as a President’s Scholar and Summa cum Laude from Florida Southern College with a Bachelor’s in Finance and Science. During her career as a Corporate Accountant, she worked for Daniels Manufacturing, NASA Kennedy Space Center, Amcor PET Packaging and Sears Holding Corp. She moved From Orlando to Dallas in 1999, where her sister and niece, Delaney, lived. Sharon was a regular volunteer with many organizations, giving a lot of time and donations to non-profits serving the arts and animals. She served on the Board of Directors for the PM League of the Dallas Museum of Art, Secretary for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Innovators, and a frequent volunteer at The 500, Inc. and Operation Kindness. She was also a member of the USA Film Festival and loved going to movies, museums, art galleries, art festivals, and wine tastings. Although she gave many hours of her free time to these groups, the organization closest to her heart was always Operation Kindness.

Sharon is survived by her mother, Ruth McGahagin of Franklin NC, her sister Gwen Wood of Plano TX, and her niece Delaney Van Vranken of Austin, TX. Sharon spoke to her mother every week after bingo, and was always diligent about sending her cards and gifts for every occasion. Sharon also has many, many friends who will miss her greatly and have many fond memories with her.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Sharon McGahagin on Sun, Aug 4 th from 1-3pm, at 840 Acadia Drive, Plano TX 75023.

In lieu of flowers a donation to Operation Kindness would be appreciated.
