Sharon Kay Phillips

Sharon Kay Phillips was born December 21, 1952, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to parents Johnnie and Jimmie (Riggins) Phillips.

Sharon graduated from Durant High School in Durant, Oklahoma class of 1971. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Southeastern Oklahoma University in 1975.  She made her home in Garland, Texas, and her career spanned 4 decades in medical technology, working primarily in Dallas area hospitals.

Sharon was always artistic and used her talent to paint landscapes and draw beautiful flowers.  She was passionate about music and taught herself to play guitar, flute and the harmonica.  On weekend evenings, Sharon could often be found playing music with an informal group of fellow music lovers at Garland City Square.

Sharon’s hobbies included scrapbooking, jewelry making, practicing yoga and researching her family’s genealogy.  Her special interests included Native American cultures, horses and spirituality.

Sharon is survived by her brother John (Amy) Phillips, of Pflugerville, Texas; her niece, Maggie Phillips, of Midlothian, Texas; her nephew, Jonathan (DeAnna) Phillips and their children, Anderson and Elliott, all of Burleson, Texas; and beloved cousins in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Sharon’s life at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024, at Allen Family Funeral Options with Pastor Robert Matthews officiating.  At the family's request, please dress casual for the service.

Sharon will be laid to rest with her mother in Ada, Oklahoma.
