Sharon Gail Feagin was born October 6, 1945, in Lincoln, Nebraska to parents John Arnold and Minnie (Lytle) Banks.
Her parents were very loving, and her father was a preacher at the time. They quickly moved to Texas, where Sharon spent the remainder of her life. As a child, Sharon enjoyed surprising her mom by doing the ironing, or washing the dishes, or cleaning the house. Even at an early age she was a hard worker.
She married her husband, Joe, on July 15, 1967, and they were both still in college. After they got married, Joe began to work while Sharon finished her homemaking degree. When she finished, she began teaching high school, while Joe went back to school to finish his degree. They always took care of each other and complemented each other.
They had their son, Conrad, in 1972, and then 15 months later, had their daughter Monica in 1973. Sharon quit teaching homemaking to stay home with her children. Instead, she excelled in homemaking at home. She was an excellent cook, and always had people over. She kept an immaculate home. She loved to do laundry, and everything was always folded so pristine. She was also very organized and neat. She was a very dignified and classy woman, with refined manners, yet she was warm and welcoming to all who knew her.
She had 7 grandchildren and was the best grandmother. She loved and doted on every single one of them. She had a special touch with the babies and could calm a crying baby in an instant. She cherished her time with each of her grandchildren. As a matter of fact, three of her grandchildren lived in Lubbock, and she never let the distance come between her being a good grandmother. She always made time to make frequent visits to see them and spend quality time with them. She loved to play games with her grandchildren and would get on the floor and patiently play with each of them.
Her greatest accomplishment, her most powerful legacy that will forever be stamped on all who knew her was her unyielding, unwavering faith in God. She had a commitment to the Lord that was sealed deep in her heart. She loved His Word, His church, and His Son with all her heart. She was always busy doing the Lord’s work. She taught countless Ladies’ Bible classes, led countless prayers among ladies, and taught Bible classes for children at church until her health wouldn’t allow it, and she never hesitated to take food to anyone who needed it.
On January 18, 2023, in her home in Fairview, Texas, she passed peacefully from this life. She spent her last day on earth surrounded by many of her loved ones. She will be sorely missed, but we all know she has received her reward, and waits for all of us to join her.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 55 years Joe Feagin; son Conrad Feagin and his wife Mary and daughter Monica Fairchild; grandchildren Cy, Selah, Cora and Camila Feagin, Will Fairchild, Anna Leirer and her husband Jacob and Lyla Fairchild; brother Keith Banks and his wife Donna. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Chad Banks.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Sharon’s life at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Campbell Road Church of Christ, 2828 W Campbell Rd., Garland, Texas with Preacher Ricky Jenkins officiating.
