Sharon Brown Bradshaw went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 9, 2024, due to complications from bulbar onset ALS. She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on January 28, 1952. She was the oldest of 6 siblings, a quintessential mother hen with a knack for sewing, and a smile that lit up the room.
Sharon became a believer in 1973 and began attending Calgary Baptist Church where she met the love of her life, Cecil Wayne Bradshaw. He swept her off her feet, and thus began a love story for the ages. Married in Los Angeles, Cecil was soon given the opportunity to work abroad in London, and Sharon embraced what she knew would be the adventure of a lifetime. With evening runs around the Barnes Pond, taco nights, picnics in Hyde Park, and precious relationships with lifelong friends, Cecil and Sharon soon made London their home away from home. Ashley and Chelsea’s arrival completed their family of four, cementing London as a special place in Sharon’s heart forever.
But the adventure continued…next stop: Jakarta, Indonesia! It was a different culture, language, and a world away from everything familiar. But Sharon was never reticent to accept a challenge; she was fearless in her pursuit of authentic relationships among an expat community, passionate about a classical education for her girls, and a member of a beloved church family where she fell in love with Precept Ministries and the study of God’s word. Jakarta was a springboard for a wealth of travel, exposing Sharon and her family to a global worldview.
One final move brought the Bradshaw’s to Plano, Texas in 1991. Sharon found joy in volunteering at her daughters’ school, Trinity Christian Academy, serving as President of the Parent Teacher Fellowship board. She also served in ministry for several years at Prestonwood Baptist Church. Rooted in God’s Word, Sharon loved her Bible study and Small Group dearly. Sharon was a devout Republican and an Election Judge for her precinct. She made many bipartisan friends while serving in that role and was never one to turn down a good debate in her efforts to champion Truth, Justice and conservative values.
Sharon’s relationship with Christ was the cornerstone of her life. She had a servant’s heart, and always went above and beyond for people in her life. It was her life’s dream that every person who followed after her would know the living hope in loving Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Sharon had a special gift for seeing people- she saw the best in them, believed in their potential, and would do anything to help them realize that truth.
She exuded confidence and boundless energy and believed “You have not because you ask not.” She was the epitome of generosity and selfless love, eager to bless and celebrate the smallest or biggest event! Sharon and Cecil lovingly lined countless kitchen cabinets. The perfect team, Cecil measured while Sharon lined; it was their quintessential gift to so many. And she was the MOST wonderful mother. Her children were her life’s work, and every homemade meal, every perfectly latticed cherry pie, every magical Christmas, every birthday or college care package, was curated with her boundless love. Sharon loved her grandchildren fiercely and delighted in their passions and successes. She was their greatest cheerleader, flew to attend Ellie’s volleyball and Wes’s football games, celebrated alongside them each time they read through the Bible in a year, and never missed a moment to make them feel loved and cherished like only Lovie could. When ALS took away her ability to speak, she still summoned every ounce of her energy to exclaim “Hi Max!” on her daily FaceTime’s and took great comfort in her chair cuddles with baby Charlie. And most of all, her fierce love and care for their grandfather served as a shining example of what true love really is.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Cecil, as well as her daughters Ashley Stiernagle and her husband Chris and Chelsea Davis and her husband Mitchell; she leaves her 4 grandchildren, Ellie (15), Weston (14), Max (2), and Charlie (9 months). She is also survived by her 4 stepdaughters, Cathy Hutto and her husband Cecil, Cindy Bloore and her husband Steve, Connie Burch and her husband Ronald and Christi Robinson and her husband John; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Sharon leaves behind 4 siblings: Cheryl Braun, Curtis Brown, Marilyn Brown, Richard Brown, and beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Eugene Brown, her mother, Mary Lou Brown, her brother Robert Brown, and her grand-daughters, Terri Lynn Robinson and Whitney Rowton.
Cecil, Ashley, and Chelsea extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to Andi’s Angels Home Care. Andi Taubman and her team cared for Sharon in her final months, becoming a physical and emotional support system for them all. Loving thanks to Andi, Vicki, Tanner, Marie-Rechel, Tricia, Dee, Gervia, Barri, and Esan.
