Shane Miles Lacy

March 13, 2003 — September 24, 2017

Shane Miles Lacy was born March 3, 2003 in Mesquite, Texas to parents Danny and Karen (Dunn) Lacy. Shane was granted his angel wings on September 24, following a lifelong disability. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Shane had touched in some small way throughout his short, yet very memorable life.

Shane’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke many words, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.

Although Shane’s disability made him appear disengaged, he possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He could spend hours rocking in his favorite chair while cuddling close to those he loved so much. He enjoyed music, sleeping late, watching the movie “Cars” and “Sponge Bob” a gazillion times. He loved the color’s blue & yellow and when it came to food he was the bottomless pit!

With Shane’s passing we are reminded that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day; especially his gentle loving nature, he will forever remain in our hearts. Through his teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his father. Shane will continue to live through his twin sister Sydney, who knew him in the womb and every day that followed. She was his angel and now he is hers.

Shane leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life. Shane’s love extends to his wonderful teachers at Cheetham, Curtis and Lowery. There is a special place in our hearts for Shane’s ’Doctor, Dr. Dolce because of her continual dedication, love and support, Shane was able to survive some of his toughest medical challenges. He will be dearly missed by all his special caregivers at Children’s Medical Center, and his friends at Allen ISD. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Shane with love and dignity in his life and also in his death.

Shane is survived by his loving parents, Danny Lacy and Karen Cutler; Sisters Sydney Lacy, Taylor Cutler and Ashley Schuh; Grandparents: Wanda & Curtis Dunn and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends and now joins his grandparents Esther & Leo Lacy in Heaven.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A funeral to celebrate Shane’s life will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jody Mazzola officiating. Shane will be laid to rest at Restland Memorial Park following the service.
