Sarah Matthews Pond, wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, teacher, mentor, friend, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2023, at the age of 63, surrounded by her family.
Sarah was born on November 04, 1959, in El Paso, Texas to Mario and Isaac Angel. She married James Pond, in 1987 and they celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on July 4, 2023. James would refer to her as his little Angel.
Sarah Pond loved to learn. She had a bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees, and two Doctorates degrees. She spoke multiple languages and instilled the importance of education in her children. Sarah has always had a passion for teaching and helping others. She worked as a teacher for over 40 years and loved her work and the children she taught. She instilled a sense of hope, pride, and courage in her students. She would always make sure her students had a good meal to eat before stressful test days and would help tutor any kids that needed her help. She bought her students school supplies, clothes, meals, and more.
She was a bright light in the dark to many children in Dallas throughout her career. Mrs. Pond’s classroom was a safe space for her students to learn and to feel valued, respected, and loved. Her classroom was always decorated with the students work and accomplishments. Many parents, teachers, and administrators would stop by to see her classroom and congratulate her students on all their hard work. She would always bring home gifts that her students would bring to her to show their appreciation and respect.
Sarah was someone people could come to with their problems and she would listen and help support them in any way she could. She was incredibly generous with her time, talent, and money. She would help any person in need, whether that be a homeless person on the street, someone stuck at a gas station or opening up her home to family in need.
Sarah is survived by her husband James and their two children, Krystle and Walter Pond. To her family, Sarah Pond, was always the heart of the home. She made her family feel loved and cared for. Sarah was an incredible mother to her children. She drove Krystle to every dance team practice, Walter to every football practice, and bought James a pool table that he always wanted so he could practice at home. She encouraged her family to pursue their interests and loved them dearly.
Sarah loved to host parties for her extended family. She especially loved Christmas. She loved to decorate and bring everyone together for any holidays and celebrations. She was ‘Christmas’ for her family, and she cherished that time with her loved ones. Her family will never forget how magical she made the holidays, and we will cherish those memories forever.
Today we honor Sarah Pond for the life she lived, and the God in who she trusted.
