Ruth Ann Duke

Ruth Ann (Jones) Duke, aged 77, passed away on June 7, 2024, in Plano, Texas, with her family by her side, surrounding her with love. She was born in Howland, Texas on April 5, 1947 to Lloyd Raymond Jones and Ruth Bledsoe Jones.

Ruth Ann attended Roxton Elementary School and graduated from Paris High School.

She attended Paris Jr. College and continued her education at East Texas State University with a Masters Degree in Education. Her career included 30 years as elementary teacher and she retired from Yale Elementary School in Richardson. After retirement she continued to use her expertise as supervisor with Texas A&M Commerce for certifying student teachers.

Ruth Ann and Robert were high school sweethearts but met in Kindergarten and grew up together. They started dating their Junior year of High School and the only time they were ever apart was when he was away in the military. Ruth Ann and Robert were married in 1973 in Roxton, Texas and were married for 51 years. After moving to Richardson, they welcomed their first child Jennifer in 1978 and their second daughter Jana in 1979.

Ruth Ann was a devoted wife and her greatest joys were the roles of being a “Mom” to Jennifer and Jana and then “Grammy” to Brynley, Brek, McKenna and Landon. She loved spending as much time as possible supporting and caring for them.

She is survived by her husband Robert Garth, daughters Jennifer (Duke) Beller and son-in-law Kyle, Jana (Duke) Solimando, son-in-law Robby Solimando, brother Raymond Jones, sister-in-law JoAnn DeVivo Jones, grandchildren Brynley, Brek, McKenna and Landon, brothers-in-law Ronnie Duke (Marlene) and Gary Duke (Janie) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will greet friends at a visitation from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Allen Family Funeral Options, followed by a brief service at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
