On July 17, Ronald Lee Jones of Plano, passed peacefully away from this life. He was born on September 8, 1944 in McKinney, TX and spent the first five years of his life there.
After miraculously surviving the McKinney tornado of 1948, the family moved to Lubbock, where his father worked in the cotton industry. The early 1950s saw the family make their way back to the Dallas area, this time settling in Oak Cliff, where he attended James Bowie Elementary School and W. H. Adamson High School. It was at Adamson where Ronnie met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Barbara Ann Ingram. They married in 1970 and became the parents of two wonderful children, David Allan Jones and Jennifer Marie Jones Armstrong.
Ronnie and Barbara bought their first home in Kessler Park. Self-renovating this 1920s home and making a place to raise his family was a lifetime highlight for him. In 1982, they moved their growing family to Plano, where he and Barbara lived the rest of their lives. Truly loving music, he was actively involved in the Plano Community Band, serving as their president for many years. Ronnie’s career was spent at Texas Instruments, where he hired in at age 19 and worked until his retirement in 2000. During his tenure there, he was involved in many exciting engineering projects and
was sent to MIT, Texas University, and Stanford University to study. After Barbara’s unfortunate passing, nobody was certain where that would lead Ronnie, but he found another love, Martha. His thirst for knowledge led him to many enjoyable hobbies, including astronomy, photography, hand radio, and researching genealogy. Martha and Ronnie had many adventures together and over the last 6 months being Grandpa and Nana to his Grandson Jackson really filled his heart.
He is survived by his children Jennifer (Brian) and David (Courtney), sister-in-law Sharon Jones, his precious new grandson, Jackson, and his loving companion, Martha Edwards Guin. Ronnie was preceded in death by Barbara, his parents, Floyd and Mae Jones, and his brother, Donald Jones.
There will be a memorial service held on Friday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. and will be held at the Pecan Grove Chapel, inside Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, TX.
