Ronnie Ewell Hooper

July 11, 1955 — January 12, 2026

Plano, Texas

Ronnie Hooper died in the company of family after a struggle with heart disease on January 12, 2026, at the age of 70.

Ron was born July 11, 1955, in Bristow, OK. He graduated from high school in Dierks, AR and went on to earn an accounting degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He spent his professional career in the oil and gas industry managing trust accounts with dedication and integrity until his retirement in 2023.

Following retirement, Ron embraced one of his greatest joys – bringing smiles to others by making appearances as Santa Claus. He delighted in entertaining both children and adults, sharing laughter, warmth, and the spirit of joy wherever he went.

Ron and Angela shared a love of travel. They explored the world together, making many wonderful memories along the way.

He was a dedicated and active member of Custer Road United Methodist Church, Plano, Texas where his faith guided his life and his involvement reflected his commitment to service and fellowship. He cherished his friends and church family, finding great joy and support in the relationships he built within the congregation.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Methodist Richardson and Baylor Scott and White Heart Hospital who cared so beautifully from their hearts for our sweet Ron. Thank you to all who have prayed and offered support in these difficult times.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Angela McGrath Hooper; his grandchildren, Collin and Emmalyn Carmical; and brothers, Steve, Matthew, Mark, and Christopher Hooper, and their families. He is preceded in death by his stepchildren, Seth and Brianna Carmical, who meant the world to him, parents, Luther and Marjorie Hooper, and sister, Becky Brown.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, at Custer Road United Methodist Church.

Those wishing to honor Ron may express their sympathy in any way they feel appropriate, whether through prayers, flowers, a donation to the charity of their choosing or to Custer Road United Methodist Church music ministry.
