Ronald Allen Ragland “Rags” was born November 19, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, to parents Loren and Bernita (Hill) Ragland.
Ronald was a patient, loving, and humble man. He was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where he could be found throwing snowballs at the opposing team of the Kansas City Chiefs during home games. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force. Though that wasn’t in his original plans, it led to the most wonderful part of his life: his wife, Michelina. Stationed at Montevirgine, he met her and fell in a deep, devoted love. Proposing to her on Valentine’s day of 1980 and were married September 28, 1980. From there, they went through life together for 45 years. From hardships to good times and kids to job changes, Ronald and Michelina’s love for each other never wavered.
Ronald’s devotion and loyalty could be seen in all aspects of his life. He was an amazing father and role model for his two children, Rocco and Yvette. He’d introduce his passions of golfing, music, and movies to them and support them in any pursuit they had. Shortly before his passing, he continued this into being a grandfather. He was so proud of his granddaughter, Stellina, and was always singing her praises.
When it came to faith, Ronald trusted in God completely. When cancer struck, he would tell everyone he’ll recover just fine because God takes care of him. He would say it’ll be okay because we have Jesus. Any problems he had, he would use the Word of God to find a solution. Nothing could shake him, which demonstrated his positivity. Even at his sickest he could still crack a joke to make everyone laugh. And above all he wanted peace.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife Michelina Ragland; children Rocco Ragland and his fiancé Marcia Dao and Yvette Setzer and her husband Jake; granddaughter Stellina Maria Setzer; brother John McFarland and his wife Julie.
