Ronald David Jones, Sr., was born on October 22, 1946, in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, to parents, Jack Jones and June (Shaw) Jones, Sr.
Ron moved to Texas with his parents, brother, and sister in 1954. Upon his arrival at his new home in Richardson, he was disappointed to learn there were no cowboys and Indians as portrayed in the Saturday matinees. He spent his formative years in Richardson, attending Richardson High School. At Richardson High, he could be seen leading the marching band as drum major.
After high school, Ron worked for Collins Radio and met his lifelong mentor. This mentor helped Ron develop a strong work ethic and taught him the art of managing people, job responsibilities, and treating everyone equally. He played slow-pitch softball for Collins Radio, traveled statewide for tournaments, and was an avid bowler.
After leaving Collins Radio, Ron entered the electronic field and managed sales for global printed circuit manufacturers. He traveled the world from the Far East, Mideast, and Europe. He set up a factory in Ireland and was responsible for hiring personnel throughout Europe.
In 1969 on a Braniff flight home from Aspen, he met his future bride, Pam. After three dates, he knew she was the one. They were married in December of that year at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. They had an amazing fifty-two-and one-half years together and raised two wonderful children. Even though his job required more of his time, he always called home at the end of his workday, no matter where he was in the world. Family was always important.
Ron loved supporting his children and grandchildren’s passions. He coached his son’s Little League Team and led them to the city finals each year. He showed each young player what is meant to be a good winner and loser, dependable, and a good sport. But most of all, he taught them to have fun. He would sit through two-hour dance recitals to see his daughter’s two five-minute performances as a ballerina and a bumble bee. He attended science competitions and high school football games to watch his daughter perform in the color guard. He attended dance recitals performed by his two granddaughters and cheered on his grandson’s hockey team. Ron valued his family and loved his wife and children unconditionally.
After retirement, Ron and Pam traveled extensively. They visited well-known museums and visited museums that were off the beaten path, discovered hidden gems in cities they visited, enjoyed great food and great wines, and made new friends wherever they went. They participated in corvette caravans and road rallies. He looked upon each day as a gift and knew life didn’t have a dress rehearsal. His favorite saying was, “You only go around once.” His life was well-lived.
Ron is survived by his soul mate Pam Jones; daughter Jennifer Militello and her husband Tony; daughter in law Cynthia Jones; grandchildren Hannah and Samantha Jones and Peyton and Mia Militello and many loving additional family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Ronald David Jones, Jr. (David), daughter Kimberley Jones.
