Romeo Najera Fernandez

August 28, 1948 — March 28, 2023

Romeo Najera Fernandez was born on August 28, 1948 in Manila, Phillippines to Mr. and Mrs. Optaciano Fernandez. Romeo was the second child born after his older sister, Tita. He was the first boy and was later joined by his four younger brothers, Frank, Ding, Raul, and Opty. He also had a baby sister named Sonia who passed away at the young age of two months. He was simply known as “Boy” to those close to him.

While still a toddler the family moved to the rural province of Pangasinan. Here, the family struggled to make ends meet and at the same time this taught Romeo many important values. After graduating from high school, he earned a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1971 from Feati University. Then moved to Los Angeles, California in 1972.

Here he met the beautiful, Liliosa Fernandez(nee Perena) and they later married on August 16, 1975. Soon after a son, Rommel, was born, a year later a daughter, Celeste, and then the baby, Cynthia. While working as a Mechanical Engineer and living in Cerritos, California, he attended school at night and earned a second bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Northrop University. After all his children graduated from high school, he moved the family to Plano, Texas. He worked for General Dynamics in Garland, Texas on “top secret” projects and retired as Engineering Manager, Forgings in 2015.

A family man who lived for his family, did everything to better their lives. He enjoyed good food, good drink and a good movie. But most of all he enjoyed his seven grandchildren, Jenalyn, Elijah, Joshua Luke, Liliana Rose, Fiona Mae, Zelie, and Ian who always put a smile on his face. He passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023 surrounded by family in Plano, Texas.

The family will greet friends at a visitation and rosary from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Allen Family Funeral Options.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75023 with Father Bruce Bradley officiating. If you wish to view the funeral mass via webcast, please access via the link below:
