May 31, 1939 — Aug 23, 2026

Lindon, Utah

Roland “Valton” Crenshaw, Jr. passed away August 23, 2026, in Lindon, Utah. Born in Wood County, near Winnsboro, Texas, to Roland Valton and Louella (Caviness) Crenshaw, Roland grew up among six siblings on an East Texas farm. Roland graduated from Sulphur Springs High School, where baseball shaped lessons in discipline, preparation, and teamwork. His graduation brought special pride, as he became the first boy on either side of his family to complete high school.

Roland entered the United States Army in September 1960 and advanced to E5 within 30 months. On June 29, 1962, Roland married Mary Ann Cranney in Midvale, Utah.

Roland and Mary Ann raised three sons; Mark Alvin Crenshaw, Dirk C. Crenshaw, and Drew Larry Crenshaw. He was a proud grandfather to Ty Shelby Crenshaw, Jayna Crenshaw Liljenquist, Blake Crenshaw, Kyra Crenshaw McIntrie, Dallas Meshel Crenshaw, and Charlotte Valton Crenshaw, and cherished later generations of family.

He earned an associate’s degree in business management from Texarkana Community College in 1973. He was ordained a high priest in the Melchizedek Priesthood. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, proud veteran, friend, and mentor. His life reflected hard work, humility, service, and a steady belief that action mattered more than excuses.

Roland will be laid to rest with military honors at the Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to local youth sporting activities, honoring Roland’s love of baseball and teamwork.
