Bob Whitehead passed away peacefully at home in Plano, Texas on Sunday morning, April 19, 2026, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Whitehead, and loving daughter, Tori (Laurel Victoria) Whitehead. And fondly remembered by his sister, Sandie Jones, and nephews, David Holden and Robert Holden, all currently residing in the greater Dallas area.
Bob graduated San Diego State University, where he had fun. One of his final exams took place on a surfboard. Bob was recruited as a pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, a dream career cut very short by a shoulder injury. Although he was sad about not playing baseball, the injury kept Bob out of the draft for the Viet Nam War. Subsequently, Bob worked for several years in Northern California for a major bank and became a superior lender in commercial development.
In fact, Bob was recruited for a senior lending position at Richardson Savings and Loan in Richardson, Texas. He didn’t want to leave California. But he was lured to Texas by an oƯer that was too good to refuse. His Texas connections led Bob to jump into commercial real estate and multi-family development in Texas and Arizona. After the national real estate crash near the end of the twentieth century, Bob switched to the PEO industry. Less fun and adrenaline, better night’s sleep.
Tori, Barbara, and his dogs were the center of Bob’s personal life. Tori began competitive swimming young. Bob jumped into volunteering for her swim teams’ boards immediately. H e stayed on as President of COR long after Tori left for college. Similarly, Bob was always a stalwart supporter of Barbara throughout their marriage. As for dogs, Cookie, Buster, and Neo were his favorites. Bob really, truly, was always—a good guy.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life and Reception will be held at Allen Family Funeral Options on Wednesday, May 6, 5:00-7:00, Tori selected a musical playlist reflecting Bob’s multi-genre love for music, and Barbara found some funky pictures that represent Bob’s love-for-life-and-people personality.
