Robert Loveless

December 18, 1963 — February 24, 2022

Robert Perry Loveless, Jr. was born December 18, 1963, in Colorado City, Texas to parents Robert and Rebekah (Haley) Loveless. He passed away on February 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Robert had an exemplary career in which he held great pride, in electrical contracting at Shermco Industries and before that Humphrey and Associates, over the past thirty years. Robert managed emergency and planned electrical outages, performed electrical testing, was successful in sales, training, and speaking on topics in his industry. Robert viewed his work as contributions to communities, supporting important facilities like hospitals and airports, and salvaging utilities after floods or other disasters. He valued and respected his many work friends and colleagues. Robert taught classes on his areas of expertise at the Dallas Community Colleges, where he was able to share his knowledge and experience with newcomers to the field. He was enthusiastic about how plentiful and rewarding the electrical job market is for people who work hard and responsibly.

As a young man in high school and college, Robert was active in theater and was lauded for his performances. He starred in and won awards for his acting in productions including the classics of Shakespeare, and the lead role in Major Barbara requiring memory of most of the spoken lines of the play. While residing in Ft. Stockton, Texas, Robert started the Community Theater that still exists today. He fondly told stories about the old, small building they started in. Also in his younger years, Robert loved working on a ranch as a cowboy where he was able to experience nature and the wild; work a long, hard day; and eat a ‘cowboy’ meal.

Robert was, more than anything else, devoted to his family. His highest calling was to provide for them. He loved to cook, family vacations, teach the kids to fish, boating, playing cards and chess, watching football and being with his dogs. Over the past few years, he and Beth became grandparents, Pop and Nan. He adored the three boys and dreamed of teaching them how to hunt and fish. Robert was a prolific reader, and he had a sharp sense of humor. He loved classic rock and country music, as well as beautiful musical scores of movies like Last of the Mohicans, which gave him peace in his final days. He embodied integrity. His generous strong presence in his family’s lives will be deeply missed.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Beth Bernthal; children Megan Denman and her husband Matthew, Amanda England and her husband Stephen, Evanne and Trent Bracklein and his significant other Zoe Bailey and Maren Loveless. Grandchildren Barrett and Hudson Denman and James England; mother Rebekah Loveless; siblings Carolyn Simmons, Deborah Loveless and Sarah Ruth White and her husband Zane; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of Megan and Amanda, Cherie Curfman Loveless, father Robert Perry Loveless, brother Allen Loveless, sister Robin Martin and brother-in-law Sam Simmons.
