On Sunday, October 18, 2020, Bob Sears passed away peacefully at the home of his son, Mike (and Ann) Sears, where he had resided for the last year.
Bob was born in Shrewsbury, Missouri to Charles and Vivian Fosdick Sears. He graduated from high school in Webster Groves, Missouri. Then, Bob served in the U.S. Army near the end of the war. He went on to graduate from Central Methodist College (Fayette, Missouri) where he studied education and excelled at sports. He was later inducted into their athletic hall of fame. Bob’s career in education ranged from coach, teacher, principal, and superintendent at several Missouri schools. He valued his positive relationships with many former students and acquaintances. In 1981, Bob retired and moved with Sue to his family's small farm in west-Michigan which he greatly enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue Haggard Sears (Fayette, Missouri); and his three brothers, John Sears of Kirkwood, Missouri; Jim Sears of Walnut Creek, California and Tom Sears who died in Europe during an air mission in World War II.
Bob is survived by his sons Mike (and Ann) Sears of Plano, Texas and David Sears of Cambridge, Massachusetts; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as many friends
The Rosary will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023.
The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am, also at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
