Robert Kimball

March 12, 1939 — March 11, 2024

Robert Edgar Kimball was born on March 12, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed away on March 11, 2024 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Plano, Texas.

He leaves in God’s care his sister in law Rozalia Kimball, his nephews Jeffrey Ritchie (Jeri), Raymond Oakley and Kenneth Lyle; nieces Donna Ritchie, Lisa Ritchie, Lisa McCalister; a great niece, great nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lois, his father Robert, his sister Shirley Ritchie and his brother Raymond.

Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force, Military Police Division for twenty-five years and retired with honors on April 30, 1983. While enlisted, he traveled the globe with overseas deployments as far flung as Korea, Turkey, and Philippines.

His stateside service included Minot AFB a Strategic Air Command Base with both nuclear armed intercontinental ballistic missiles and manned bombers; Rome Laboratory an Air Force ‘superlab’ where planning and executing the USAF science and technology program is performed and Whiteman AFB which is home for the 509th Bomb Wing, which operates and maintains the B-2 Stealth Bomber.

Robert’s kind and gentle demeanor was a breath of fresh air in a world where harshness is increasingly the norm. He never failed to say "please" or "thank you". However, he was fiercely competitive, whether it was a lively game of bid whist or Family Feud. And as an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, their repeat Super Bowl victory brought him immense joy in the final weeks of his life.

His devotion and loyalty to family was foremost, second only to his love and devotion to the Lord. After joining Preston Highlands Baptist Church, Robert wanted to be baptized again as a reaffirmation of his belief and faith.

Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed.

A visitation will be held on March 22, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a service at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel at Allen Family Funeral Options.

Robert will be interred on March 26, 2024 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas.
