Robert Kent Carr

December 3, 1957 — March 9, 2018

Robert Kent Carr, age 60, of Arlington, Texas, died March 9, 2018.

Rob, as he was known, was born in Houston to Rosemarie (de Launay) Carr and James Howard Carr, Jr. on December 3, 1957.

He moved to Uvalde with his family in 1967 and graduated from Uvalde High School in 1976. After graduation he spent a year with the Keith Green Last Days Ministries near Lindale, Texas. He attended Southwest Texas Junior College and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Business Administration, Management Division.

Rob was an active member in St. Philips Church, served nine years as an acolyte and was always available to serve at a moment’s notice. As a Boy Scout in his father’s troop, which was sponsored by St. Philips Church, he earned his God and Country award. Under the guidance and supervision of the Reverend Nicholas Mayer he spent a year contributing his time to the church and to the study program. He was later awarded his Eagle Scout Rank during the Sunday morning service, along with his brother, and was also inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

With his troop, which also included his younger brother Paul, he attended a national jamboree in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and the international jamboree in Lillehammer, Norway two years later.

Rob gave his life to the Lord at the age of 16 when St. Philips hosted a Lay Evangelical Weekend known as “Faith Alive.” After completing his college degree he worked in several Christian ministries before marriage. He then owned and operated a bookkeeping and tax service for some years. At the time of his death he was a marketing consultant.

God put so much love into his heart to pour out to others. He was known for being extremely tender-hearted, loving and compassionate, always looking to help and serve others whenever he could. He was good with his hands, being able to take things apart and put them back together with ease from a young age and he had a natural talent for drawing and artwork.

Rob is survived by his daughter, Arlina Marie Carr-Carpenter of Tampa, Florida, three brothers: Paul Howard Carr and his wife Amy (Pond) of China Spring, Texas, Michael Andrew Carr and his wife Deirdre (Metzcher) of Magnolia, Texas and Jean-Jacques (Jay) Carr and his wife Lana (Baxter) of Corpus Christi, Texas, his parents Howard and Rosemarie Carr of Uvalde, Texas, his close friends, Jesse Gregory and Oliver (Junior) Taybo of Arlington, Texas and his nieces and nephews.

An evening of remembrance will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2120 W. Spring Creek Parkway, in Plano, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at St. Philips Episcopal Church, 343 N. Getty Street in Uvalde, Texas. The Reverend Michael K. Marsh will officiate.
