Robert Edward Hammitt

Robert (Bob) Edward Hammitt was born on September 27, 1936 in Ranger, Texas to parents Raymond and Peggy Hammitt. He lived in Plano, Texas and passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on January 22, 2019 surrounded by his beloved family.

Bob was a man of faith. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Sandra. They married in 1977 and enjoyed attending the KAAM dances and traveling together. He served his country as a Medical Specialist in The United States Army from 1959-1962. He received an engineering degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. He professionally worked for El Paso Natural Gas in Odessa, APCO Oil in Oklahoma City, Sun Oil & Gas, Oryx and PVR in Dallas as a Safety Engineer until he retired in 2015 at the age of 79. He was a member of Chase Oaks Bible Church and loved his life group. He was an active supporter of the Plano Symphony and KAAM. He enjoyed big band music and loved to dance. Bob was a kind, loving, thoughtful, gracious and generous man and loved helping people. He loved Jesus, America and his family.

He is survived by Sandra Hammitt, his loving wife of 41 years; sister Sharon Hammitt Bryant and her husband Ken; daughter Sheryl Walser and her husband Dave; son Jim Walker and his wife Kelly; son Mike Walker and his wife Gloria; son Jeff Walker and his wife Shalina; 10 grandchildren Adam, Andrew, Zeb, Victoria, Alexandria, Cameron, Claire, Justin, Josh, and Brittany.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Peggy Hammitt and his daughter Jana Hammitt.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 4, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, TX.  An internment will be held at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy at 2:30 P.M.
